Reconaissance phase is finished. Mission Grad School underway. Today I signed up to the Berkeley YMCA. Hedging a bit, I got the Bay-area wide membership; this gives me more options should I decide to go camp elseware for a few nights. Now, I'm writing my cirriculum. They offer a Raja Yoga class at the Y on Thursday evenings, and Sat, Sun, and Wed have intermediate classes. There are also Tai Chi, Karate, and Aikido classes, as well as hiphop and modern dance classes. That all should keep me busy there...

Also, two things are nagging on my mind. One is that I snapped at my mom in an email cause she is very very subtly nagging me on my progress entering grad school. She's uneasy cause she is aware I'm not looking for a job or even a place to live... I think she suspects... at any rate, this series won't be published for a while, so I'm going to keep it all on the downlow. For now. This is to be portfolio work. I want to try to model this after Jen's ascent of her Art school with Fred. They did a three day expedition to the top floor. Built a tent and everything. I could do the same. But perhaps for two or three months.

This mornning I awoke for the first time in my squat. At first it was early... but looking around at how sequestered I was, I decided to sleep in. When I awoke I put up the tarp, arranging it so its invisibly underneith the canopy of this tree. Today, on closer inspection I realized the tree is very much alive, and growing laterally out of the hill. Mudslide as a child... Now the limbs are like ribs on a turtled ship. Excellent excellent coverage!

I also found out what that noise was last night. You'll never believe this. Its fucking Hyenas. Apparently they were used in a study some time ago, and now they're just... sorta... here. THey have an inclosure inside double barbedwire fences and I have directions to go see them from one who has been there himself. Gonna have to go meet the neighbors for sure. Starting to make friends at the coffee shop with plug-in internet access. Justin and... shit I forgot her name. Anyway, justin gave me the scoop on the Hyenas...

The Y is nice. It still is a bit strange to be getting naked with a bunch of men, showering together, hanging out in the sauna... I can see where the Villiage people found this exciting. Anyway, its not really uncomfortable so much as strange. The hot tub is a funny place too; there's a full age range at this facility rather old to little children. A postcard of diversity.

Well, that's all for now. Two big steps taken. Oh yah! and another thing. I found a sleeping bag at the storage unit! That means I can wash it, drop it here, and not have to carry my bag around so much! Delicious. Now all I need is a shovel and a five gallon bucket to bury, for concealed storage...

The dear were startled to find me under this bush just now :-) I could here them start. Owls hoot on the ridgeline; no hyenas so far...
